KEN MURRAY, a photographer with more than 40 years experience, joined the United States Air Force and coupled his love of photography with aviation to produce outstanding military images published worldwide. With a publishing and photography background, Murray was picked by the Air Force in the mid 1990’s to be editor of Torch Magazine, the Air Education and Training Command safety magazine. Murray and his staff won the International Blue Pencil Award for government communicators in 1995. Murray, a KC-135 navigator by trade, is a veteran of Operations Just Cause, Desert Storm, Allied Force, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. His images have been featured on ESPN.com, Sports Illustrated, Torch Magazine, Aviation Week, Propos De Vol, Lockheed Martin’s Code One Magazine, calendars, postcards, and books. He retired from the Air Force on May 1, 2011 after a 25-year career. He continues to obtain his aviation fix via annual trips to the EAA's Airventure in Oshkosh, WI while now focusing on current events and sports photography.
